Very interesting! It fascinated me, too, that mermaid lore varied so little across continents. Kind of makes you wonder, doesn't it? ;)Cate Mastershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01371792447604980848noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1969558921964931828.post-44562264631648381002009-09-06T21:01:47.053-05:002009-09-06T21:01:47.053-05:00Molly, I used to fantasize about being a mermaid w...Molly, I used to fantasize about being a mermaid when I was little. That combined with Wonder Woman, it was a hell of a combination! lol I'll have to check out Stone and Sea! Thanks for the recommendation!

lol @ Carrie's Irish brogue! That sounds like a very interesting movie. *runs off to Netflix*

Thanks, Sheila! It was interesting researching it! The thing is, according to the movie, there's more to the legend then just forcing the selkie to stay in human form.

If that should be done, legend has it that the selkie will reclaim their own. You won't know when or where it will occur, or who it will be, but the Selkies will take one of the ancestors back to replace what they've lost.

That's as far as I'll go with this. If I say anymore, I'll give too much of the movie away. It was a really good movie and little girl in there was fantastic and for some reason, as I type this, I'm speakin' it in an Irish brogue!Carriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13328970869069471833noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1969558921964931828.post-70277575675701813822009-09-04T14:45:22.637-05:002009-09-04T14:45:22.637-05:00Let's not forget the mermaids from the lagoon ...Let's not forget the mermaids from the lagoon in Peter Pan!

Okay, so they only had a small part, but they were there.Carriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13328970869069471833noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1969558921964931828.post-10504185505005102652009-09-04T10:31:30.979-05:002009-09-04T10:31:30.979-05:00Let's do the Time Warp today....
