Your Thanksgiving book is a great resource.
We've almost finished reading Where the Action Was, and the kids just love it. This book has sparked so many discussions - I recommend it to everyone.
See you soon
MarieAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1969558921964931828.post-32628716822071530752009-11-29T13:09:44.932-06:002009-11-29T13:09:44.932-06:00Hi Penny,

Your novel presentation of competing claims for the event of the “First” Thanksgiving IS stimulating. I wish I had learned about them in school. We could have done TWELVE interpretive plays of Thanksgiving instead of one. This book makes me want to be a history teacher, but I still use it as a model to guide my teaching in science as a great way to talk about “facts” and knowledge as a process.

We are looking forward to reading Stirring Up The World: Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony, a Biography of a Powerful Friendship and can’t wait to see who/what/where/when you choose to write about next.

Cheers,
Sue and Moshe

P.S. We had chicken salad for Thanksgiving dinner (which was fantastic, because both my mothers are awesome cooks). So, we didn’t celebrate the harvest of Thanksgiving as much as the fun of helping our 80+ year old parents set-up, organize and decorate their new apartment.Suenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1969558921964931828.post-27553486868071301082009-11-28T20:23:36.945-06:002009-11-28T20:23:36.945-06:00Hi Dot,

We had your book on display and reminded the kids of President Roosevelt signing the bill making the Thanksgiving Day a national holiday. We had the traditional (for us) turkey with the usual dishes. Ralph always throws in two new ones. This year it was kale which everyone said they didn't think they would like, but even the little kids enjoyed it. We had no left-overs. It was a wonderful family time to laugh, be very loud, hug, kiss and give lots of thanks for all our blessings. I don't like turkey and there is clearly a point that my particular family should no longer get together, ha! just kidding. But, after reading Penny's book, I'm a Thanksgiving fan. Thanks for giving Penny.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1969558921964931828.post-77259400027342293052009-11-28T12:42:19.584-06:002009-11-28T12:42:19.584-06:00What treat to have a writer that thinks that facts...What treat to have a writer that thinks that facts are more interesting than fiction.
