Twyla is jaded and doesn’t trust any man. Her friend, Anna, calls her, a “Scrooge of Valentine’s Day”. But Twyla has reasons to be jaded…or she thinks she does. Finding a pair of thongs in her fiancĂ©’s car just before their wedding would make anyone jaded. But a few ghosts decide to drop in on Twyla and stir some things up…and maybe, just maybe show her the error of her ways.
This is a charming sweet story about giving second chances to Mr. Right. It will speak to the romantic in each of us and it’s a delightful read for all ages. Through the good writing, it’s easy to empathize with Twyla’s heartache. From the moment I started reading Ghosts of Valentine’s Past, I saw Twyla as a person that had been deeply hurt and in order to protect her heart from further pain, she’s shut herself off from any possible future hurt by writing off all men. Twyla’s first ghostly visit is her chain smoking Aunt Polly. Aunt Polly is a hoot and I loved her. Through the ghostly visits, Twyla realizes that her choices have not only impacted her future, but that of Shane’s as well. And she realizes that sometimes the truth isn’t as clear cut as we may believe it to be.
