About the Author:
According
to her family, Elizabeth Boyle has always been a storyteller. That is if you
count the far-fetched tales she used to make up about her imaginary cow, John
Clapper, or the fictitious accounts she'd conjure as to who exactly broke the
cookie jar. So it was no surprise to them when Elizabeth's first novel, Brazen
Angel arrived on the scene with a great splash, snagging the Dell Diamond Debut
Award and went on to win the Romance Writers of America RITA for Best First
Book.
Since
then, Elizabeth has penned twenty more adventurous and romantic novels, which her fans call "fast-paced" and
"tremendously fun," with the most common complaint being that her
books have kept them up too late at night reading. Her upcoming release,
If Wishes Were Earls,
is the third book in her latest series, Rhymes with Love.
In
addition to writing, Elizabeth loves gardening, knitting, reading, traveling,
and trying to find low-fat recipes that taste like something her grandmothers
would have made. She lives in Seattle with her household of
heroes-in-training,
and considers her hectic life the best slice of heaven one could ever wish for.
Ghost Sanctuary is a factual accounting
of a family’s struggle with ghosts living in their home. The book explains in
detail the happenings faced by the family and their reaction to the invasion of
the spirit realm into their own. The book contains fascinating photo and video
evidence of what the family has and continues to experience. The author
identifies how her own belief in God and the afterlife has helped her to
overcome and understand the trials and tribulations of her family’s ordeal.
Becky J. is an equestrian lover and spends her days in Western activities, teaching, riding, training, and breeding horses. For more information about her unusual nonfiction tale, please visit www.GhostSanctuary.com.
Values in
Conflict: Reflections of an Animal Advocate offers an account of changing and
conflicting social values regarding man’s role in the natural world. Author
Georges Dupras compels us to think about man’s role in animal suffering and
leads us to the inescapable conclusion that we must speak and act for those who
have no voice.
Dupras
presents a pragmatic approach to peaceful coexistence with nonhuman species,
without sacrificing idealism. The humane field has developed from a nonprofit
mission to a profession over the past forty years addressing questions,
comments, and issues that are foremost in the minds of the general public.
While highlighting opposing social values, Dupras encourages those who feel
marginalized due to their lack of professional training and offers advice to
help them find their right path.
Dupras also
chronicles the evolution of the animal rights movement, one that uniquely
transcends differences among species. This thorough review and reflection on
both Dupras’s personal experiences and of animal advocacy in general seeks to
address questions, comments, and issues that are foremost in the minds of the
general public, in hopes that future generations will recognize animals for
their intrinsic value, equal in their own rights.
For over forty-five years, Georges R. Dupras has worked in many areas of the animal protection field. He is a member of the International Association for Bear Research and Management (IBA), Director of the Animal Alliance of Canada, and past member of the Board of the Canadian SPCA. He currently lives in Quebec, Canada.Elizabeth.
Readers are
fascinated with the wives of famous men. In Becoming Josephine, debut novelist
Heather Webb follows Rose Tascher as she sails from her Martinique plantation
to Paris, eager to enjoy an elegant life at the royal court. Once there,
however, Rose’s aristocratic soldier-husband dashes her dreams by abandoning
her amid the tumult of the French Revolution. After narrowly escaping death,
Rose reinvents herself as Josephine, a beautiful socialite wooed by an awkward
suitor—Napoleon Bonaparte.
A debut as
bewitching as its protagonist.” —Erika Robuck, author of Hemingway’s Girl and
Call Me Zelda
Vivid and
passionate.” —Susan Spann, author of The Shinobi Mysteries
Rose Tascher
sails from her Martinique plantation to Paris to trade her Creole black magic
culture for love and adventure. She arrives exultant to follow her dreams of
attending Court with Alexandre, her elegant aristocrat and soldier husband. But
Alexandre dashes her hopes and abandons her amid the tumult of the French
Revolution.
Through her
savoir faire, Rose secures her footing in high society, reveling in handsome
men and glitzy balls—until the heads of her friends begin to roll.
After
narrowly escaping death in the blood-drenched cells of Les Carmes prison, she
reinvents herself as Josephine, a socialite of status and power. Yet her youth
is fading, and Josephine must choose between a precarious independence and the
love of an awkward suitor. Little does she know, he would become the most
powerful man of his century- Napoleon Bonaparte.
BECOMING
JOSEPHINE is a novel of one woman’s journey to find eternal love and stability,
and ultimately to find herself.
“Webb adds
new frisson to the often fictionalized travails of an unlikely empress…Although
the book covers the same ground as many other treatments of Josephine’s life
and times, Webb’s portrayal of the range of Josephine’s experience—narrow escapes
from bloodshed and disease, dinner-table diplomacy, and her helpless love for
Napoleon, her children and a small dog—is exceptionally concise and colorful. A
worthy fictional primer on Empress Josephine.”–Kirkus

This memoir describes the challenges a young man faces in achieving his dream of becoming a veterinarian. Even a period of homelessness and limited resources do not interfere with his commitment to achieve success. And this is only the beginning! Soon he is faced with the challenges of working in the jungles of Panama, facing the ravages of a roaming black jaguar and the defenses of a native village against the entrance of man or beast. Then, how about Haiti, where the Tonton Macoute militias believe in instant justice, rarely valuing life, or Columbia, where the drug lords have absolute rule. As if that isn’t enough, consider working in the African continent, along the tales surrounding the first shipment of Charolais cattle to the United States or the many facets of working with the wild mustangs in Colorado. Each exciting adventure is told with suspense, drama, and humor! Enjoy!
About the Author:
Inspired by biblical passages and teachings, the author cherished his work as an international veterinarian. His passion for improving the health and welfare of domesticated and wild animals is most noteworthy. Working within diverse cultures, he observed vast health improvements in animals and, as a result, in people living nearby.

An alien race
known as the Xzebuliens that exists in an alternate universe has developed the
technology to create a rift in our own, that appears on the blind side of the
moon. They send asteroids through the rift and deflect them to land on all the
major continents of Earth, containing a virus engineered to wipe out the human
race, so they can leave their dying world behind after we are gone. There will
however, be limitations to the virus, like how far and fast it spreads from the
epicenters of the land masses that they strike making our environment toxic to
humans, but not to most any other forms of life on the planet. The virus, also
designed to turn the environment against humans, including the plant and animal
life.
What the
aliens did not count on is that the rats of Earth are affected by the virus in
a way that mutates them, rendering the virus inert so as not to be dangerous to
us through them, but giving them an ability to become telepathic with people
through their Meta cognitive abilities that they share with human beings which
is evidently lacking in other animal species. They eventually become our allies
using their superior senses and intellect that work through us because of their
mutated telepathic abilities and the Meta cognitive powers that both our
species have in common in thwarting the alien attempts to invade.
An ancient
secret the rats discover in an otherworldly alien AI database that they reveal
to us through their enhanced mental abilities is so shocking it will change the
way people look at rats and our world forever. The human race becomes
subservient to the rats because of their accidental alien viral metamorphosis
as we depend on each other for the survival of both our species….
Gerald Rennie, currently working in Port Coquitlam in beer distribution, graduated High School in 1981, has a life long interest in the subject of rats. Previously published a short auto biography about experiences with them in The Rat Worshiper. Lives alone with his five rats in Maple Ridge, British Columbia.
Title: The Next America: Moving Beyond a Fragile Economy
Author: Don A. Holbrook Publisher: Don A. Holbrook Pages: 304 Language: English Genre: Nonfiction/Business & Economics Format: Paperback, eBook & Audio Book Purchase at AMAZON
The economic chaos of the 2008 Global Financial Crisis that has created so
much destruction of wealth for regular Americans is far from over. This book
examines problems and possible solutions within national, international, and
local realms that will help us navigate these times and set a course toward
calmer waters. While some clamor for more taxes to cover our government's
programs, The Next America shows how we can restructure our tax code so it
positively affects all aspects of our communities: education, businesses,
innovation, political transparency, environmental issues, investments, and
more. Concerned citizens and economic players alike will be inspired and
motivated to act to reestablish the American Dream during this transitional
time. The Next America believes an informed citizenry can create a solution to
hold our elected officials accountable for real change that will be robust and
beneficial to all American’s not just the elite few at the top, without moving
away from our free market and capitalism based economy.
BOOK EXCERPT:
From
reading the newspaper, watching television, or listening to the radio, it
should be clear that the unsettling situation America finds itself in today has
presented us with several conundrums. We are concerned about where our nation
is headed, how to make a living, how to prepare for retirement, how to create a
better life for our families today, and how to leave our posterity with an
inheritance of economic opportunities.
The global
economy has created more chaos and hardships than most of us have previously
experienced. Not since the Great Depression have folks been so beleaguered by
so many tumultuous problems. Even more devastating is the degradation of our
main pillar of humanity, our core: the family unit. With the massive amount of
unemployment and underemployment that has arisen in this perfect economic
storm, many of us have burned through our benefit claims, extensions, and
options. We face loss of income and also hope and self-dignity. These immense
problems have made many of us rethink our values and dreams. In the worst of
cases, we have given up the ideal of aspiring for a better life—not only for
ourselves, but also for our children. The economic pressures are not the only problems
in this perfect storm. We face burgeoning pressure from religious zealots who
are not tolerant of religious differences. We face environmental calamities,
both
natural and man-made. In addition, the resources that we depend on to fuel our
global economy, such as energy, are peaking in costs and diminishing in
availability.
To further frustrate and annoy our already
overloaded psyches, we have a complete lack of trust in our governmental
systems. People are weary of the either/or partisan politics and government’s
failure to look out for our best interests.

BOOK EXCERPT:
“So,
little miss, want to fess up to what you were doing yesterday?”
“Well,
it depends,” she said. “Before or after,
I threw my half-naked body at Mason?”
Wesley
dropped the knife. “Excuse me?”
Tomás
raised his eyebrows and gave her a smile.
“It was just for a little while,” she said playfully.
“How
little?” Wesley munched on his biscuit.
“Not
too long.”
“How
naked?”
“I
told you -- about half.”
“Which
half?”
“A
little of both.”
“Both
breasts?”
“No. Top and bottom.”
“Is
that so?” Wesley took a sip of his
drink, thoughtfully considering what she’d said, like he was some kind of
philosopher. “Any action?”
“I
tried.”
“How
hard?”
“Pretty
hard.”
“Was
he?” Wesley grinned at Tomás and took
another bite of his biscuit.
“Shut
up,” she said blushing. “We decided it
was best to take things slow.”
“That’s
too bad,” Wesley said, and Tomás slapped his arm. “In all seriousness, I’m happy for you.”
“Me
too,” Emory said, rising from the table with her and Tomás’ plates.
Wesley
grabbed her shoulder and whispered in her ear, “Did you tell him?” Emory shook her head walking to the sink, and
Wesley shot her a disapproving look.
Tomás eyed them both curiously.
“He deserves to know!”
Tomás
mouthed to Wesley, “Know what?” Wesley
shook his head that it was none of his business.
“No
lectures, Wesley.” She scrubbed the
plates. “Let me enjoy myself and Mason
before I ruin it.”
